The Government of the Northwest Territories is pleased to be part of the Canada Northwest FASD Partnership and is committed to collaborating on prevention, intervention, care and support through sharing best knowledge and practices and developing common strategies to address the complexities of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD).
The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is committed to the vision of strong individuals, families and communities sharing the benefits and responsibilities of a unified, environmentally sustainable and prosperous Northwest Territories.
One of the GNWT's goals is to have healthy, educated people. We must focus on prevention by promoting healthy choices and lifestyles and on the role of personal and family responsibility.
The achievement of this goal starts with our youngest citizens, the children. FASD is a lifelong disability. Early diagnosis, supportive environments and a range of special supports and services assist individuals and their families in their journey for self-reliance and well-being.
